Josh Rossol, PhD
Senior Principal
​Rossol combines more than 30 years of research experience with rigorous academic and professional training to bring top-level analytic inquiry to every endeavor. In his role, he applies his passion for problem-solving to his clients’ challenging business issues.
Trained in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, Rossol has been a senior executive and thought leader in the healthcare marketing research industry for over a decade. Before joining Mindfrog in 2014, he was the Chief Methodologist and head of the Advanced Methods group of the Marketing Insights/Primary Research practice at Kantar Health (now Cerner Enviza), the largest group of its kind in the world.
He has been involved with over 625 marketing research studies in his career. He has personally designed, built and analyzed over 170 studies over in his time in the industry across dozens of therapeutic areas. This includes deep experience in Demand Estimation and Clinical Trial Optimization, Market Structure, Segmentation and Positioning research. He is well known for his ability to easily talk about, translate and use the most current techniques in ways that are clear in their application to the business issues at hand. For the majority of Rossol’s engagements, he was involved in both the qualitative and quantitative phases of the research. Previous to his industry experience, he was a college professor of sociology at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, publishing and teaching in social psychology and deviant behavior.
Rossol worked with Mindfrog founder John Tapper at Kantar Health as they developed industry-changing quantitative innovations including Demand Calibration, Benchmark Discrete Choice, TAGZ, Sequencez, and others that are still used on a widespread basis today. He earned an AB from Stanford University in Sociology and Quantitative Economics, and an MA and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
